Accretion of Knowledge

My art values intuition, non-rational knowledge, empiric knowledge, and place attachment. This series of artworks are profane illuminations of traditional knowledge; minimal interpretations of the formats of sacred texts and architecture such as illuminated manuscripts and altarpieces.

Wayfinding is a record of an eight mile hike through newly deposited lava fields. Someone ahead of me had deposited small white pieces of coral in the all black landscape; offering knowledge to lead my way.

Some of the smaller pieces, Hold I - III and Break, are all punched and folded to look as if they are pages removed from a larger book. These images are a collection of ephemeral knowledge made repeatable and durable through pictorial multiplicity, repetition of form, image, and looping.
